What are Firmex alternatives for a boutique M&A advisor?

Firmex is the default boutique sell-side room: unlimited-project annual subscription, mature Q&A with bidder groups, SOC 2 Type 2, SSO, and a name buyers already know.

Firmex does not publish a dollar.

For a shop that wants a published flat price, pick a published-price room.

That is a substitute for the quote, not a substitute for Firmex’s Q&A workflow.

Boutique vs banker-led (definition). Banker-led: the other side expects Firmex, Datasite, or Intralinks. Those names win that row.

Boutique shop running several $5-50M mandates: a published flat price for unlimited rooms is the usual substitute.

They are sequential. Moving to Firmex later is normal.

Which room for which mandate?

If a PE buyer’s counsel already expects Firmex, Datasite, or Intralinks, that is the job those products win. Firmex pricing is a quote: single-project, or an unlimited-project annual subscription whose price is set by data volume over a year. Subscription is the plan Firmex sells for shops that do more than one deal a year, and it is the plan that includes SSO. See Firmex securityfor SOC 2 Type 2, SSO, and IP restriction. There is no public dollar on Firmex’s own site.

If the boutique is running its own process, and several live mandates need rooms at once, a published monthly price is the substitute for that quote. It is not a substitute for Firmex Q&A routing. How to keep competing buyers out of each other’s questions is how to keep buyers from seeing each other’s questions in a data room.

What the published prices actually are

Firmex is quote-only. The pricing page, retrieved 2026-09-30, sells a single-project room (data requirements and project length determine the price) and a subscription (unlimited projects, annual fee, data volume over a year determines the price). No public dollar.

SecureDocs is a flat fee. The annual plan is $250/month paid annually. The 3-month plan is 400 USD per month billed quarterly. Both figures are on SecureDocs’ product page, retrieved 2026-09-30. Unlimited users, unlimited documents.

Ansarada is a quote builder. Preparation is free until the room goes live or 90 days, whichever comes first. See Ansarada pricing, retrieved 2026-09-30. DealRoom is also a quote: pricing based on number of deals, unlimited users and data storage, no per-page or per-seat fee on DealRoom’s pricing page, retrieved 2026-09-30.

Cashpian Standard is $100 / mo per company, or $1,000 / yr. See pricing. Unlimited rooms, viewers and documents.

FAQ

Will a PE buyer's counsel reject a non-Firmex room?

Sometimes they ask for the brand they know.

That is a relationship fact, not a security fact.

A boutique running its own process can pick a published-price room.

Does Datasite own Firmex?

Yes.

Datasite announced the acquisition on 26 July 2021.

Datasite also completed Ansarada in 2024.

Does a published-price room replace Firmex Q&A workflow?

No.

Firmex wins coordinator, expert, and approver roles, and the share-all-answers control.

Cashpian has one audience per bidder and a publish step. It does not have those routing roles.

Why do shops stay on a Firmex subscription?

The unlimited-project annual subscription is built for several live mandates.

It is quote-only. Data volume over a year determines the price.

SSO and SOC 2 Type 2 sit on that product.
