Best data room for an emerging manager raising Fund I (October 2026, 10 we priced)
An emerging manager raising Fund I usually starts with a Drive or Dropbox folder and a DocSend of the deck. The paid default is DocSend Advanced Data Rooms: $180/month billed yearly, $300/month billed monthly, 3 users, with NDA and group permissions (retrieved 2026-10-10). If AngelList already administers the fund, that fundraising room is free.
This is our list of 10. Each row is the job that vendor actually wins for a Fund I raise, what twelve months cost on its published price, and where it stops fitting.
Best data room for an emerging manager raising Fund I (definition). The room that gets the deck, PPM, LPA, track record and DDQ to each LP under NDA, shows who read what, and keeps one LP’s questions away from the next, for a raise that often runs twelve to twenty-four months.
DocSend wins the deck and the familiar link. A fund administrator’s room wins if AngelList, Carta or Juniper Square already administers the fund. Datasite or Intralinks wins when a placement agent or a large LP requires a traditional VDR.
How we tested
We read each vendor’s own pricing or product page on 2026-10-10. A published number is quoted as published. Quote-only stays quote-only. We did not invent a price and we did not score vendors against ourselves. If a vendor moves a figure after that date, believe their page.
This page is which room. What goes in it is what should be in a Fund I data room for LP due diligence. Sharing the PPM is how an emerging manager shares a PPM with LPs. The DDQ is how a first-time fund manager answers an LP DDQ. Raise versus portal is data room or investor portal for a first-time fund. A $0 answer is is there a free data room for fundraising.
What the room has to do for this raise
NDA at the door. LPs sign before the PPM, LPA and track record open. Start from the ILPA Model NDA and have fund counsel review.
One audience per LP. Each LP sees the folders it has earned, its questions stay out of the next LP’s view, and no family office can tell which others were invited. A shared Drive or Dropbox folder is where that usually breaks first.
Per-LP read logs. Who opened the track record, the model and the DDQ, and for how long. That is the signal for who is real before first close.
Watermark and download control. The track record workbook is the file that gets forwarded.
Current-version files. A PPM supplement replaces the file in place. Recipients see only the current one. What goes in the packet is what should be in a Fund I data room; how to stage the PPM is how an emerging manager shares a PPM with LPs.

| Google Drive or Dropbox folder | No added cost on the account the emerging manager already has. | Every LP can open it, today. | No NDA at the door, no per-LP groups, no page log. Fine until the second LP forwards the track record. |
| Digify Pro | $140/month billed yearly (retrieved 2026-10-10). | A published-price VDR with file protection that follows a download. | Guest and room quotas on Pro. Dynamic Watermark is an add-on. |

| Datasite Diligence | Quote-only: "customized for every transaction" (retrieved 2026-10-10). | The placement-agent or large-LP process. Intralinks wins the same job. | A per-transaction quote sized for a full institutional process; heavy for most Fund I raises. |
| Cashpian Standard | $100 / mo or $1,000 / yr; unlimited rooms, viewers and documents, no seats. | NDA signed at the door with a certificate per signer, one audience per LP with Q&A fenced per audience, watermarks, per-file download control, per-LP page logs, in-place versions. One company price for the raise. | No SOC 2 report and no SSO claim. Not an LP portal. No subscriptions, KYC, capital calls or K-1s. |
One twelve-month raise, on published numbers

What a data room will not do
No room on this list forms the fund, takes subscription documents, runs KYC, calls capital, moves the wire or issues K-1s. That is an investor portal such as Carta, Juniper Square or AngelList. Who may be offered the fund, and how, is a question for fund counsel, not a data room vendor. The split is data room or investor portal for a first-time fund.
Where a flat company room fits
A company-priced room is one line for the whole raise. Cashpian Standard is $100 / mo per company, or $1,000 / yr, with unlimited rooms, viewers and documents and no seats. See pricing.
Each LP or LP group gets its own audience, with only the folders it is allowed to see. Its Q&A threads and Ask answers stay inside that audience. The NDA is signed at the door, with a certificate per signer. Watermarks on preview and download, per-file download control and per-LP page logs show who is actually working the track record. A PPM supplement replaces the file in place.
The rows the others win stay theirs: DocSend’s agreements and data room groupson a link LPs already know; AngelList’s free data rooms when it already administers the fund; Carta and Juniper Square for the portal after first close. Cashpian has no SOC 2 report, is not an LP portal, and does not touch subscriptions or money. See What is Cashpian?
